The Business of Artistry will be the topic of Free Panel Discussion Event Thursday evening, May 18th in Downtown Raleigh

The public is encouraged to attend a FREE upcoming panel discussion on “The Business of Artistry” on Thursday evening, May 18th about ways that artists can turn their passion into profit by learning best-practices for growing your own brand and setting up your business properly. Speakers with also discuss ways to not only market artists work, but protecting that work legally in today’s changing local and global marketplaces.

This informative event is open to anyone age 18 and above, and is being held at Deep South the Bar in downtown Raleigh at 430 South Dawson Street, directly across from the Red Hat Amphitheater. Doors open at 6pm, with cool snacks provided free, along with drinks for sale from Deep South the Bar’s full cash bar. The Panel Discussion gets underway after 6:30 PM. No ticket needed.

This event is designed as a free public service for area artists and is being presented by local law firm, Kincaid & Associates, PLLC, known for its dedication to artists and small business owners throughout the Carolinas and Tennessee.

Attorney Mitzi Kincaid will moderate this panel discussion, which will also include guest specialists sharing their advice on legal, finance, accounting, marketing and media topics, as well as input from working artists. Attorney Karen Boardman from Kincaid & Associates, PLLC will be speaking on business formation and trademark and copyright law.

Attorney Mitzi Kincaid to Speak to the Southwest Brunswick Newcomers Club Thursday, April 13th

The second Thursday of each month, the Southwest Brunswick County Newcomers Club meets to share information and hear dynamic guest speakers. This event on April 13th begins at 10:00 AM at the fellowship hall at the Shallotte Presbyterian Church, located at 5070 M.H. Rourk Drive, directly behind the Rourk Library in Shallotte.

Attorney Kincaid will be speaking about the need to update estate plans when you relocate to North Carolina, the differences between wills and trusts, and why you need powers of attorney and Medicaid planning. She will speak to the group and be available for questions afterwards.
In attendance with Attorney Kincaid will be Attorney Nancy Guyton, also of Kincaid & Associates, PLLC.

Law Firm Announces the Addition of Nancy Guyton to it's Wilmington Practice

The law firm of Kincaid and Associates, PLLC, is pleased to welcome renowned attorney, Nancy M. Guyton to its Wilmington practice at 5215 Junction Circle, Suite #100. Ms. Guyton has been advising businesses and individuals in business and real estate law for more than thirty years, many of those in our own growing Cape Fear Region.

Nancy Guyton is a North Carolina State Bar Board Certified Specialist in Real Property Transactions - Commercial and Residential and is the only woman with the Commercial Specialist designation in eastern North Carolina. She formerly served as General Counsel for Zimmer Development Company. Ms. Guyton graduated from Smith College with an A.B. in American Studies, earned her J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law in Chapel Hill, and is licensed to practice law in North Carolina. She is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association and has served as a member of its Real Property Council.

Mitzi Kincaid to Speak Thursday, Dec. 1st in Asheville, NC for “PAWS on ASD” Event

The Public Is Invited to Attend: Autism Legal Advocate to Speak December 1st at Event in Asheville for “PAWS on ASD”
Attorney, Mitzi Kincaid, of Kincaid and Associates, PLLC, will be speaking on behalf of PAWS of a special event for “Parents of Children with Autism” on Thursday, December 1st at 5:00 p.m. Please note that the event site has changed to 191 Charlotte Street above Allegra Printing. Ms. Kincaid is an active advocate for helping people facing the challenges of Autism within their families and offers advice and assistance to help with estate planning issues regarding specific directives for long-term care solutions.

“My step-sister had special needs and just passed away this May, so I am passionate about doing whatever I can to help families facing these types of challenges be able to establish care plans for such family members and the best ways to legally set their wishes in place,” says Kincaid, whose law firm assists clients in the Asheville area, as well as other cities across the Carolinas and Tennessee.

The public is invited to attend this important discussion event, being held at 191 Charlotte Street above Allegra Printing. Ms. Kincaid will be speaking as part of a regular meeting of “Parents of Children with Autism”, affiliated with the group “P.A.W.S. on ASD,” an Asheville resource center providing therapies for people on the autism spectrum and their families regardless of age, ability, or income.

Forbes: Raleigh Leads the Best Places for Business and Careers 2014

Forbes Magazine just named Raleigh as the #1 place for business in 2014, citing business costs 18% below the national average and a highly educated population, with 42% of adults holding at least a bachelor’s degree. Raleigh also boasts low regulatory hurdles compared to other areas, with tax codes, startup costs, and business permits favorable to small businesses and entrepreneurs.

Two more of our favorite cities also made the list: Nashville (#10) and Charlotte (#12).

We already knew how great these places are to start a business, but it’s fantastic to see recognition in the prestigious Forbes!

Attorney Mitzi Kincaid attends 3rd Quarter Statewide Independent Living Council (SILC) Meeting

Attorney Mitzi Kincaid is attending the 3rd quarter NC Statewide Independent Living Council Meeting in Burlington, North Carolina.

Appointed by Governor Pat McCrory, Ms. Kincaid joined the council in January 2014. The mission of the SILC is to promote a philosophy of independent living, including a philosophy of consumer control, peer support, self-help, self-determination, equal access, and individual and systems advocacy, in order to maximize opportunities for individuals with disabilities and the integration and full inclusion of individuals with disabilities into the mainstream of society.
